extremely buggy and limited

Find & Replace doesn’t work properly. It finds pattern that doen’t macht and searching is limited to the current page. It often throws away your work and substitutes it with its crappy ocr output. Text placement ist very bad and no meta information can be edited.

Does not work with macos 10.12 Sierra

Prizmo always had stability problems but was OK and ususally got the job done. It does not work in Sierra. Two stars assuming it will be patched soon...

Nothing Opens

Hey, I am not able to open any kind of a document. I tried pdf, jpg, but it says file format not supported...

Absolute Crap

The only reason I gave it one star is because it actually did download, install and launch. After that…who do i see about getting my $53.55 back?

Great app

Really nice OCR application. I especially like the screen shot > copy to clipboard feature for fast citations. More importantly, the developer is really responsive and helps out in case of issues (I had 1 that was quickly solved). Highly recommended. Thanks for this app!

Works Great!

I have purchased this app in order to save time and energy from having to type notes from my text books that i am studying. I simply scan or take a picture of the pages in my text books that I wish to take notes from and then open the file with Prizmo. I use the OCR function to detect the text and then simply copy and paste (the notes I would have spent time typing) into my word processor. I am very satisified with this software and how much time and energy it saves me. This way I can concentrate on my studies and not hours of typing. The software is very easy to use, fast, and works great! The OCR function that is built into this software is remarkable and the character recognition unbelievable. Just make sure you use a good quality scan or photo! I have tried other OCR software and found that Prizmo provides the highest quality of text recognition.

Performs as Described

Beware that if you just want to create a file without using the text reccognition feature (i.e. a regular color or OCR PDF) you won’t be able to the service doesn’t allow for exports unless it’s using the text recognition feature which is a huge draw back since it has such a great OCR generator.

Doesn’t work in French

It not able to recognize thinks as "ô" in French. It can’t read any italic letters correctly nether. A dictionary have to be implemented to reduce bad recognition. Finally, it’s almost as long to correct the result as a total rewriting of the text by hand !

Not that great

Though the idea is great, i think alot of improvements need to be made. the software cannot recognize alot of the words when using a jpg format. so be very careful about this product because it will frustrate you.

It’s a trap! Waste of Money. Don’t buy!

I expected an OCR product from the advertising and description but you can’t import images or pdfs to OCR. Apparently you can only OCR if you use this software to scan but good luck trying to get your scanner to work with it. Now I can’t seem to contact anyone to get a refund. $50 USD down the tubes.

Appalling software

This program does NOT do what it says. It is supposed to work with any scanner. It doesn’t work with mine.It is supposed to easily scan all kinds of text and have an above average OCR mechanism. The OCR doesn’t work. I just get garbage characters at whatever dpi I use. It cannot recognize a page scanned from a book. It cannot recognize text scanned from a single page. It does not integrate with either pages or Word. A disappointing and useless prgram which is not accrately described. I want a refund!!!

Not efficient and NO JAPANESE

I have purchased additional pro pack and results are not promising. There are cheaper apps doing almost same work. App recognization is worse than I expect so I cannot think any proffesional use of this app. Cheap iphone apps do better. Unless a comprehensive update is released, it has little use. Japanese language is not included so it is useless to Japanese speakers. I am giving one star because system does not allow a quarter one yet.

Got worse after update. Not like that.

UI is nice and all, but something has changed since the last version… I praised this app for its ability to effectively eliminate shadows and fold marks in a couple of clicks (cleanup feature). It still works semi-decently, but the change is now seen as a step backwards. Oh, and nice Continuity integration. Much appreciated. Stil waiting for auto text straighten feature, though.

An good improvment from the first Prizmo

I bought the first Prizmo and was always a little bit frustrated with the interface. The second version of Prismo is a good improvement. I pulled in a scanned PDF and have seen good results. Recognition accuracy is very good, and the usability of the interface is vastly improved from the first version.

Its good.. depending on what you need it to do.

I bought this app for one purpose, and one purpose only: to render journal articles in image formats as text. Unfortunately, this is not the tool for that job. With documents under 200ppi (which is every artice I needed to render as text) the character recognition is severely degraded, and if you were to go through and fix all of the errors.. well.. youd be better off just typing the whole thing. Thats not to say Im not impressed with the software… Its freakin pretty sweet, really. It works. It looks pretty decent. Its responsive. It just doesnt do what I needed it to do though. For that it gets 4 stars.. If you dont need to render low res docs, then go for it… Its a great price for what it does. However, If youre looking for an app that takes journal articles in image format and spits out something you can cut amd paste from, look somewhere else.

Good OCR, but Evernote Sharing is Broken

I purchased this application today and tested it through several PDFs. Generally, I found the OCR to be impressive and the results reasonably accurate, about the same as I would expect from Acrobat 8.0. Unfortunately, one of the primary reasons I bought this app is the advertised Evernote sharing, which speeds up the process of getting OCRed text into Evernote. For some reason, the program will not authenticate with Evernotes servers. Perhaps an API has changed somewhere. I am sure I am using the right credentials, but it wont sign in, which makes the Evernote sharing broken for now. If you use Evernote, I would hold off on purchasing until this is fixed.

Great, but limited

Great product with a lot of excellent features … but no import from my scanner? Just photos. For a desktop version, there should be scanner support …

where does it scan to?

this app seems to work fine with docs that are already scanned … when I used the import from scanner or camera and scanned a page, its no where to be found… after searching my entire computer for files "made today" its still no where to be found... I was hoping to use a single app to scan and do OCR … i guess not… the FAQ on their website is also weak … not worth the 50 bucks it costs… refund please...

Awesome

It greatly exceeded my expectations. Worked with my Officejet scanner right off and scanned images can be easily tweaked to improve the OCR (section by section, as needed). The ability to sweep across the screen and immediately obtain OCRd text from anywhere or anything clinched it for me. I often want snippets of info from iTunes app store descriptions and with this app I dont have to hunt for the web version of the iTunes page at all. Just grab it right there and export to Evernote if so desired. Very impressed. It could, however, use an extensive documentation file (PDF).

no file format support?

It doesnt seem to support any other file formats for exporting than its native "pzdoc" format? I will upate my review if the support comes back with an answer. So far no luck hearing from them.
